Plot synopsis

Marie Claire, the wife of the 14th Phantom, has died in malaria and the Phantom and his son are travelling back to Bengali. Before their ship leaves from Naples, the Phantom rides up in the mountains to visit Montebello where he and Marie Claire spent their honeymoon. He gets acquainted with count di Arpeggio who is travelling with his servant. The count is suffering from a curse and his servant provides him with a sleeping potion. At the same time an unknown man is attacking the inhabitants of Montebello every night.
