"The Phantom's Boyhood: Diana" is a 1964 Gold Key story, written by Bill Harris, after an original script by Lee Falk, and with art by Bill Lignante.

Plot synopsis

A 12-year-old Kit Walker, along with Guran, arrive in Waterton, USA to complete his education. Kit's Aunt Sophie Nelson and Uncle Nelson are waiting at the airport with the cream of Waterton society to welcome him into their home. Kit runs off after his father is called a savage and he meets Diana, who leads Kit to his new home with the Nelsons. Guran makes sure Kit is safe before return to the Jungle.

Kit now has to learn about a new type of jungle - a boys' school.

Behind the scenes

  • The name "Walker" appears for the first time in a Gold Key story, as the future 21st Phantom is introduced as "Kit Walker".
  • Just as in "The Childhood of the Phantom" the future Phantom predicts that he will have "a big white" horse called "Hero".
