Plot synopsis

During WWI gas was introduced into the warfare. The allied decided to to experiments on an island nearby to Bangalla and had it evacuated except for a few stubborn who refused and evaded capture. They bombed the island with the chemicals and killed most animals and the few remaining men. The island was after that considered taboo and was banned to enter for everyone.

75 years later, Diana's cousin Ann and her husband Dr. Leslie want to examine the island. They are anthropologists and want to see what the island looks like now. Through Diana they get access to president Luaga who grants their request. They fly there in a helicopter and crashes. They manage to contact Diana through their radio and the Phantom comes to help them out. It turns out that the chemicals has turned the isle to a habitat for giant sized insects and bats. Unfortunately there is a volcano on the isle that has an eruption, killing all the animals. The Phantom and the Leslies manages to get away just in time, although a nearby Mori fishing village gets destroyed by the ensuing tsunami, even though nobody dies.
