Behind the scenes
- In this story, Big Bart is drawn like he is actually supposed to look. In the preceding story "Redbeard the Traitor" he was mistakenly drawn like a white man with a big black beard.
- Delilah Bey gets her name from the prison guard who compares her to Delilah in the Bible. When Bart asks for her name she chooses to be called Delilah. As the guard is her accomplice, is unclear if Delilah is her actual name or a chosen name.
- The 6th Phantom is said by Big Bart to be sensitive regarding his height, and the Phantom reacts angrily when some crook teases him about his height. This is a reference to "The Founding of the Jungle Patrol", but in that story it's clear that the 6th Phantom isn't actually short – it's just that Big Bart and Redbeard are even taller and tease him about it.
