Plot synopsis
A tale from the Chronicles of the 3rd Phantom. When Italian knights come to the jungles of Bangalla to kidnap a young Wambesi prince, the Phantom is soon on their trail. Unfortunately, the kidnappers, and their boss always seem to be a few paces ahead of him, knowing his every move before he actually makes it. His journey takes The Phantom to Palermo where he finds the Wambesi Prince in good health, being held as the guest of the mysterious Adorno. A weird nobleman who lives in a castle on the outskirts of town who likes to show off his intellect and challenges anyone to best him in games. In fact it is in this manner that he challenges the Phantom. If The Phantom can win a game, he gets to take the young prince home, if he can’t he stays. Is there a trick, a catch of some kind? Surely it can’t be as simple as winning a game of chess? Is there more to this Adorno than meets the ‘eye’?
